However, at the same time, the “beasts” that appeared have caused humanity to fall from the top of the ecosystem.
The survival space of the displaced people is protected by giant humanoid weapons called “Exteriors” and the “Mercenaries” who drive them.
The protagonist is a former mercenary who lost his aptitude for Akasha particles due to a past accident.
Unable to ride an Exterior, he mocks himself as a “defective product” and continues to live a wandering life like a hermit.
In the midst of all this, he meets a girl.
She is aspiring to be an Exterior Engineer, but the Exteriors she created using her late mother’s blueprints are mocked as “antiques” by those around her and are shunned.
This is because the armor was so antiquated that it didn’t use particles.
A defective mercenary who can no longer handle particles and an antique armor that doesn’t use particles.
When the two meet, the gears of the story slowly begin to move.
