“I wish I could disappear from this world.”
Yomiya Hashigo, a male student living in Tokyo, wished so while lying in the school flowerbed and looking up at the blue sky.
The sound of the cicadas piercing his ears and the hot sunlight burning his body. Even the hustle and bustle of the students could be heard in the distance.
It was a quiet time, blue, blue, and blue that drew him in.
A year has passed since then, and Hashigo, who has not been attending school since then, decides to run away from home.
Wanting to recover something inside of himself that he had lost that day, he arrived at a huge group of ruins standing in the middle of Tokyo. He had planned to spend each day alone, unknown to anyone, unconstrained, and without thinking about the future – but… The night sky seen from a rooftop. A girl was sitting on a metal tower that stretched out like a ladder to the moon. An “Angel” – she called herself that, and had thin wings growing from her back. Only half a wing. “I need your help. I’m looking for my lost feather.” As if wishing upon the stars, as if pledging her love to the moon. She reached her hands out to the sky as if praying. Ladder ended up helping save an angel who was meant to save people. The feather he was given for that purpose gave him special powers. He never expected to end up searching for a mysterious feather with someone he would never have met if he hadn’t taken a step wrong in his excitement. What a story (episode) that is like a story (fiction). The two’s strange life together (hunting for wings) began with the arrival of evening.
