Overview:
Introducing: Project [Redacted]
This is an adventure/dating sim game set in the X-Men universe and written in Ren’Py.
The premise is the following:
You are a mutant who has recently discovered he has the power to nullify other mutants’ powers. You have been taken in by Charles Xavier, who runs a school for mutants with the goal of protecting them and helping them learn to control their powers.
Upon arriving at the school, you meet a host of characters fulfilling different roles at the school (eg. students, teachers, staff), including Rogue, Emma Frost, and Jean Grey.
Your powers make you an interesting subject to many of these characters. For example, Rogue’s powers have meant that she has gone many years without being able to physically touch another living being. Your ability to nullify this power means she is able to touch you – hold your hand, kiss you, etc.
You quickly learn that all of these characters are… single. Some are interested in you from the start; others think you are beneath them. Through various interactions, scenes, and events, you can change how the characters view and respond to you, potentially culminating in relationships that include full depictions of sex.
As you explore the school and your growing powers, global events will transpire that test the strength and nature of your budding relationships.

interested in tracking its development.

Game Structure
Although the game will be very NSFW in terms of art, writing, and game mechanics, we intend for it to have a rich plot that fills the world with lots of stories to explore and reasons to want to date the characters. The relationships are meant to feel believable and sex will be the result of investment into these relationships. We are confident that we can pair frequent, explicit sexual content with compelling character and world development.
Similar to the project that we first started modding, building multiple relationships will be a perfectly viable game strategy.
The final game will have multiple narrative layers:
A main story arc that starts when the player arrives at the school and continues in the background throughout the game. Major events will occur along this story arc that change the overall context of the game.
For example, the school may be attacked by the Brotherhood or some other faction. This event might be foreshadowed by people gossiping in the school about a recent legislative proposal to require mutants to enroll in a national registry, lead to several discussions with the characters about where you stand on the issue, and culminate in an event where your standing with the characters at the school determines the outcome of a battle.
Character story arcs that start when you meet a character and continue throughout the game. Character events will occur along this story arc that develop the character’s motivations, personalities, and relationships with the player.
For example, you may reach a point in your relationship with a character where they open up to you about being kicked out of their childhood home when their powers surfaced. Your choices during this discussion may bring you closer together, may push you towards a “friendship” path (not a bad thing!), or may shut the door on the character wanting to interact with you.
Generic events and exploration events that are not character-specific. These are often repeatable interactions that serve to enrich your interactions with the characters and the game world.
For example, you may decide to take one or more characters on a date. Your behavior on the date will (obviously) change how they feel about you.
The game will not have an “ending” – players will be able to keep exploring and interacting with the characters and world as long as they want. Story arcs can be continuously and modularly added to the game and designed to trigger under specific conditions.

Game Mechanics
There are a few specific aspects of the game worth describing more.
First, it uses a stat system to track each character’s opinion of you. Those stats are: Love and Trust. These sound obvious, but it’s worth explicitly stating what they are used for in-game. Importantly, they can act both independently or in concert. These are subject to change, but the core ideas will stay pretty much the same.
Love is a measure of how much romantic interest a girl has in you. 100 means she wants to spend the rest of her life with you; 0 means she thinks you’re repugnant.
This is the main stat that is used to gate things like her willingness to go on dates, begin a relationship, and engage in sex acts with you. It increases when you demonstrate your attractiveness to her, and it decreases when you behave unattractively *according to her*. Note that this will be highly character-dependent: some characters may prefer the player be more assertive while others like a kind character; some may respond to an outgoing player while others might prefer quiet, brooding types.
Trust is a measure of how safe you make her feel. 100 means that she trusts you implicitly to act in her best interest; 0 means you make her feel uncomfortable and she doesn’t like being around you.
On the one hand, this is independent from Love – you may not have begun a relationship with a character and yet have maxed Trust with her. This might mean that she feels comfortable changing in front of you or having very intimate conversations, despite not having feelings for you or wishing to have sex. If, on the other hand, she both Loves and Trusts you, she may be interested in engaging in kinkier acts with you.

Development Team
This is obviously a much, much bigger project than we initially started out on. As such, we are expanding. Specifically, we have taken on several paid positions for writers, artists, and programmers. We are confident that this is the best way to reach our goals in a timely fashion.
We will no longer use art developed outside of our team. Therefore, in addition to the artists many of you will be familiar with from the server, we have taken on three new artists who will be working on character and outfit design. They will help us meet our goal of featuring > 10 romanceable characters pulled from different parts of the franchise, each with multiple poses as well as variant characters.
Our git will continue to be public for anyone wishing to follow the development process, but it has a new home: https://github.com/ronchonbon/Project-Redacted-

What you can expect
The artists and writers are currently focusing on nailing down the respective styles of the game. The coders are busy setting up the skeleton of the game mechanics that is stable enough to support some initial game content while well-designed enough to support all of the features we want in the “final” game. Once this is done, we’ll be off to the races, with an estimate of monthly content updates featuring new scenes, mechanics, and art/characters.

Supporting the game!
We have set up a Patreon to enable directly supporting our team. Becoming a patron is not, and will not ever be, required to play the game. Current builds will be made publicly available, just as they were for Chonky Mod, forever. This is not a commercial project.
Patreon is simply a mechanism for us to collect donations that we can inject into the development process to speed things along. Donations to the Patreon will be infused right back into the game via commissioning more art, writing, and code. The income will be kept public, and Ron will not personally pocket a cent – if for some reason, the Patreon does well, that just means we will be commissioning a lot of art and writing. To make it crystal clear that this is not a paywall, the game will not be hosted on the Patreon.
IF this arrangement ever changes, then it will be announced very publicly and well in-advance.
Just to reiterate, if you do not wish to donate, there is absolutely no requirement to do so. If you do wish to donate, your contribution will directly accelerate the rate of art and writing production.
