STORY

GAMEPLAY
The player will need to search and examine every nook and cranny of the world around them in order to progress. Some items may not be visible until specific chains are completed, and some items may be hidden from Mei’s cybernetic eyes at all times, as if spirited away by the ghosts stalking her. Some may require quick wit – and have urgent consequences.

LORE

GHOST
The ghosts of the Chung Sing building can hurt you, but can you hurt them? Short answer is no, but you can help them pass on. Shrines, offerings, and solving mysteries will be your only weapons

The 14 lost souls of the Chung Sing building are not the only spirits lurking the halls. Dozens of hidden ghost photos fill the locations of Sense. Finding them all may reveal a secret!
DEATH AND FAILURE
Like all the best games, failure and mistakes should be punished, but in a heavily narrative game how do you do that? How do you promote stakes and risk? The answer is simple, fill the world with dangerous events and deadly spirits. Just make sure to record your progress at the occasional TV, there are NO checkpoints or autosaves in the Chung Sing building.

– Adjusted the difficulty and interaction on the “elevator” sequence in the lobby.
– Added 14 autosave/checkpoint spots throughout the game
– Added an unlimited “Quicksave” function to the pause menu, allowing players to save at any time, Unless in the same room as a ghost, or during specific events.
– Due to the complexity and length of the game, utilizing this feature MAY cause unintended visual bugs or errors related to flag based animations or interactions. It may also cause progression bugs, so we highly recommend saving manually at save stations as well.
– Added a function to NG+ , which removes the quick save option for added challenge “Hard mode”
– Added a function to NG++, which removes both autosaving and quick saving, for the “survival horror” mode. Only manual/limited saving is available in New Game ++.
– Switched the A and B button functions on XBOX controllers
– Added A Journal item unlocked at start of game which has helpful “tutorial” notes on saving, the PDA, and the Taomu.
– Improved the visibility of Several ghosts in the later portions of the game.
– Removed “logic chain” conditions on several items so that they may be picked up right away, eliminating the more frustrating backtracking. (Note: this was only done on SOME items, not all of them in game)
– Added visual prompts to the “balance board” Minigame/puzzle on the 2nd floor.
– Changed the pause menu to ESC on PC, instead of enter. controller button is unchanged.
– Changed the interactions for the “boiling water” and “melting lead” interactions. The player must now pick up the items from the stoves, instead of automatically receive them. Also reduced the wait times on these interactions.

FIXES
– Fixed a bug in which Flags were not properly resetting when starting NG+, breaking NG+ only interactions and some events.
– This effected the elevator in the lobby as well and has been fixed
– Fixed some localization errors
– The “how to play” screen now displays in the correct language, as selected by the player.
– several typos and broken color tags have been corrected throughout the game and journals/flavor text
– Fixed a bug with a certain ghost’s attack, in which a dialogue box would appear and freeze the game.

Overview:
From the Dev Team: Welcome to Patronus! Patronus is a slave training game set in ancient Rome. It’s a straight historical setting without fantasy elements. This is an Alpha version release. We know that there are bugs, problems, explosions, fiery loss of boner issues, etc. Don’t Panic! Better releases are on their way.

Gameplay:
There are a couple of new or different mechanisms in this game. The first is the day planner. In the upper left corner of the screen you will see a Star/Sun or a Moon. If you click on this you can schedule activities. Right now there are only basic travel activities, but more content is coming, stay tuned. Also new to the genre is that each character has some stats that are not immediately visible. For example, the player will have no direct way of seeing the protagonists Inclicio statistic. This is on purpose. Sometimes, you will also see menus change in weird ways including additional information on the character you’re talking to. When this happens it means you’ve successfully made an insight roll. Don’t Panic.

Training Slaves:
You will have to take your slaves to the bedroom and attempt training in order to unlock them working in the bordello. If you fail, you can punish the slave. Read the hints on how to do this. Keep it in the green. Also, don’t do this too much.

Quests:
Some content is only unlocked after completing quests. We have created a simple, sample tutorial quest so you can see how it works.

The alpha content ends once you have the bordello running and have trained your first slave (Fasti) to serve patrons. That’s the alpha. We hope you enjoy it. Right now, only massage, bathing, boobjob and hand job unlock in alpha. Other sex acts unlock later.

  • If you’ve played previous versions, you MUST start the game over again or your game will crash. The reason for this is because I’ve been wonking around earlier code and cleaning it up. In future releases, this issue should be resolved (however, I don’t think the next version will be fixed either. We will see.)
  • Changed dialogue box to look and feel more “Fire Emblem-ly”
  • Days have been increased to 14.
  • We finally have a status screen. It’s not that detailed, but at least it should help you in deciding whose affections you should be focusing on for events. This feature will definitely be improved in time.
  • I polished up some of the games older scenes. It took a while but I’m a lot happier about most of earlier parts of the game now. It’s not all done yet but I’m getting there. I recommend you checking it out again. It definitely looks a lot better than before.
  • I removed most of those stupid fades I had. Not sure why I was obsessed with them in the first place.
  • Added 7 new scenes for a total of 15.

Malevolent Planet is a text-based game set into a future not too far from our present. Humanity discovered a planet in another solar system that closely resembles Earth and decided to spend valuable resources on the discovery of the foreign planet, as Earth has gotten more and more polluted and famine has set scientists into a craze for any viable solutions that would save humanity from itself. The protagonist is a graduate of the International Space Academy and, by sheer luck, managed to land a spot on a reconnaissance mission to find out why the other missions failed to send a message back. Coding:
• Life-Simulator System – Introduced a new system to the game to remove linearity from the story’s continuation and to give players more choices in how they want to pursue the new content. After the events of the last version, your character finds herself free to do whatever she wants. If you already finished the linear story or want to jump straight into a Life-Sim style of gameplay, go ahead and press the third link after you customize your character. The page will explain better.
• Skip System that allows you to skip straight to the LifeSim mechanic as mentioned above if you don’t have the patience or if you finished the first part already. I put a lot more effort in writing and interactions in the LifeSim part.
• Redesigned the Welcome page.
• Redesigned the sidebar. You now have a navigation bar that allows you to cycle through the relevant menus. Looks to see your character, Stats to see details like time and your character’s status bars, Items to see how wealthy you are in a currency called Krona which was designed in-house for the game. This removes a lot of the clutter from v0.0.5, no need to really scroll down anymore.
• Redesigned the Character Creation screen. In addition to v0.0.5, you will have more options such as: Cameltoe Type, Pubic Hair Type, Pubic Hair Color. There is an extra addition to the Body Type as well, thin.
• Added a right sidebar to see the enemy you’re fighting and their current status. It’ll also be used for NPC interactions and handjob/blowjob sex mechanic.
• Combat System – Introduced a new system that allows you to fight enemies. For now, there is only one enemy for one location, but the next versions will bring more locations and more enemies. A sex mechanic is also being built for sexual scenes like handjobs, blowjobs with the Combat System as reference.
• Maps – For the Life-Simulator system, you can now travel freely to any location by clicking on that location.
• Quests – Introduced a new system that allows you to start and complete quests at your own pace.
• Quests UI for Maps – Introduced an interface for the maps which allows you to see where you should go and if you hover your cursor over that location you will see a tooltip telling you when to visit that area to continue or begin or finish a quest.
• Quests UI Menu – Introduced an interface that shows your currently active quests, together with descriptions of where and when you should go. It serves an identical purpose to the Quests UI, but it’s a nice alternative.
• Tutorial Menu – It’s a tutorial that occurs after you skip to the life simulator system or after you finish the linear story. It will show you the Quests UI and how to cycle weapons because each of the (for now) two weapons has its special stats which might or might not work for the enemy/enemies you’re fighting.
• Animation System – Introduced a new animation system that acts as a gameplay mechanic, but it’s only used once right now in a quest.
• Wardrobe UI & System – Introduced a wardrobe in your character’s room where she can get dressed. It was redesigned recently, but it didn’t even exist in v0.0.5 so it’s not worth to mention it separately.
• Events System – Introduced an events system for.. events.
• Credits Menu – I received a lot of help with the development of Malevolent Planet so I made a menu to thank them personally. You can see every person’s contributions by hovering over their name.
• Preloading character assets when you start the game, preventing blinking in online versions and even local versions.
• Ship Upgrade System. You won’t see any of this yet, it’s a mechanic used in combination with the main story and it revolves around you helping your engineer, Alberto, with resources to upgrade parts of the ship. The engine at the next level allows you to travel to a city, and in the level after that interplanetary travel is possible. Other rooms will be upgradeable as well.
• Spent a ton of time on fixing bugs.

Art:
• More Character Assets, mentioned in the “Redesigned the Character Creation screen” bulletpoint.
• More digital drawings, every quest has at least one digital drawing. The public version has a few uncensored images in the Shower Event from the Sanitation Room, but all the others are censored and available only for $5+ Patrons.
• Assets for a few enemies and two digital drawings for the first enemy.
• More clothes. (bikini, dress, and more)
• More portraits.
• More backgrounds.
• Icons for the wardrobe clothes.

Writing:
• An extra 80,000 words over v0.0.5, bringing the game to around 120,000 in v0.1.1.
• Continuation of the story from the events of v0.0.5.
• An event in the Sanitation Room with many choices at every turn, which turn into separate branches. The next version will bring more events in the Sanitation Room, but until then you can replay this one to reach a different ending if you want.
• Four quests. At least one for each crew member.
• Dialogues with your crew members. You can find more about them in these dialogues and also in the quests.
• Dialogues with the human camp people which happen at random times during the day.
• Texts for every location in the game. Many of them will be expanded upon with more content.
• Steadily added more and more content which builds up the lore around upgrading the ship and travelling to another city. Check the “Ship Upgrade System” bulletpoint from the writing section for more info.

Well, that’s enough for a changelog right now. I hope you’ll like this update. I’ve worked a lot on Malevolent Planet since the latest public release because finishing university allowed me the time I needed to dedicate myself fully to the game.
