This game wants to be a big and complex sandbox porn-game with character development that you can reset gaining starting bonuses.

In this game you play as a desperate, virgin fat guy that in the future manages to become a test subject and gets back in time through a technologically evolving simulation and has a second chance to re-live his life in college, there will be several girls and woman with different level of challenge, different stories, and needing different approaches to seduce them all.

Overview:
A futadom/femdom retro sci-fi adventure game focused on atmosphere and immersion.

The setting’s main inspirations are cult classics like Fifth Element, Farscape, Space Truckers, Red Dwarf, Battletech, Syd Mead’s paintings, and other similar older sci-fi works. I am hoping to emulate that seedy, B-movie, lived-in atmosphere. Dirty and functional environments but still immersive and fun enough to live in. Gameplay:
The gameplay loop is not entirely linear as regular kinetic novels are since there are a fair number of choices. However, it is not fully open world/sandbox make-your-own-adventure either. If anything, the gameplay is a merge of more or less linear storylines (with different outcomes) situated in locations you can visit at your leisure. Both locations and characters are also tied to specific fetishes. I understand that not everyone is, for example, into feminization/sissy content; hence such content is locked in specific locations or with specific characters. If you interact with these characters in connection to the story, you don’t have to engage in fetish content you do not wish to see.
An elementary perk system reflects the main character’s experience (both practical and sexual), translating into different scenes and outcomes. Perks unlock as you play most of the time, so there is no grinding.

Fetishes:
That’s what we are here for, after all. Star Periphery has two main themes: Futadom and femdom. Futadom offers a whole spectrum from harsh, domineering futas, to gentle, more romantic ladies and everything in between. Be vary, though – individual characters have their own numerous fetishes, be it denial or cumplay, and many others. The Femdom section primarily offers latex, edging/orgasm play, bondage, worship, medical play, training, feminization/sissification, and much more.

The game has very limited “porn physics.” As I want my game to be as immersive as possible, I believe the same should apply to sexual content. For example, you are interested in romancing a certain especially well-endowed lady. All is good, but you can hardly expect your virgin main character to be able to take her foot-long package without proper training first, right? I don’t see this as an obstacle to gameplay. I see this as a chance to make plenty of spicy stretching/butt-training scenes first. But where to look for such a thing? That depends on you, player.

Characters and story:
In part 1, there is a lineup of five “main” characters you can romance, countless side characters with whom you can repeatedly engage in lewd action, and some support characters you can have fun with at least once. Or, more specifically, they will have some fun with you.
Just like the main characters vary in their own kinks, they differ in body types. No matter if you prefer classic oh-so-thicc futas, fit tomboys, shredded muscle girls, goth-y/punk ladies, or soft motherly types with some extra meat on their bones, I got you covered. The screenshots above offer a sneak peek at some of the cast.

Developer Notes:

Ever picked up a game and played it for a few hours only to realize it wasn’t what you’d imagined at all, and felt like you’d wasted your time? On the contrary, do you ever think about the number of games that you’d never give the light of day because of their screenshots or description, yet would find them right to your taste if you actually tried them out? Yeah, I get it. Me too.

That’s why I wrote a little Q&A going over the main questions one could have about the game, to give you a better idea of whether it’s worth trying out or not. And more.

1. Do I have to play the games in order?

Absolutely not. Think of every game as a short story within a book that would be called “Henteria Chronicles”, with Henteria being the world they take place in.

Each and every game can be enjoyed as a standalone, a story within a story. The only things you might miss are a few lore elements to connect the dots with some of the NPCs’ dialogues, or a few cameos with characters from previous games that will have you scratch you head for a few seconds over their cryptic dialogue, referring to a story you might not have played. But apart from that, 99% of the game can be fully enjoyed without any prior knowledge of other Henteria games.

2. What’s the gameplay like?

While HC1 and HC2 had a few minigames here and there, HC3 has none. It mainly works as a VN, although I recently saw someone had tried to register HC2 on the Visual Novel Database (vndb), and it got rejected with the description being “[HC2 is] not a VN [but] an adventure game with no narration”. HC3, unlike HC1 and 2, does have narration though, although pretty scarce.

Basically, you walk around the map, talk with people, do different straightforward actions, and progress the story that way. The progression is very linear, with choices that influence your ending but don’t lead to branching paths. The main storyline will deal with the two main characters (Rose and Cyanna), and there are two optional side storylines with Lily and Haylen as their focus.

There is also an entirely optional card game similar to FF8’s Triple Triad that, at the end of the game, should have over 100+ original cards added to the game. The card game can be ignored, but you will miss a minor storyline with a minor character.

There are also two different PoV’s the players can choose from.


3. Different PoV’s?

Yes. Players can either choose from the Omniscient PoV or the Partial MC PoV at all times in the game’s main menu.

Omniscient PoV: For those who have played HC1, HC2 or Merry H-Mas, this won’t change much. The player is perceived as an omniscient being that can see all scenes and hear most thoughts, without the MC even being there.

Partial MC PoV: This one is specific to HC3. It is mainly aimed at those who would rather the NTR happen mostly “behind closed doors”, and rely on their imagination. It will focus mainly on the MC and what he sees. If he doesn’t see a sex scene, it will be skipped over, with just a few hints to let players know it is happening even if they’re not seeing it.

However, it is called “partial” for a reason. Players will still be able to see all free roam events happening all over the map, will hear sounds and see shadows that the MC cannot. They will also see all story-related events, so they can still make sense of it and aren’t completely lost.

As said above, the POV can be changed at all times during the game.

4. If the game plays “like a Visual Novel”, why RPGMaker?

Well, I feel RPGMaker is the most adequate engine for the game I wish to create. It handles pixel art well, and it is well-suited for semi-open world games. My game relies 99,5% on pixel art for its graphics, and is designed to be enjoyed as an open world.

What I aim for when developing my games is what I call “ambience NTR” or “immersion NTR”, meaning that it isn’t merely a straightforward story and visuals slapped over it, but also free roam scenes and sex events you might stumble upon while walking around the world. Shadows behind a curtain, sex in an obstructed dark alley, condoms on the ground or discarded items of clothing, faint panting sounds behind a door, bed creaking and moans on the other side of the wall, those are among the subtle sex elements you can discover as you explore the map on different timeframes, during the day or at night.

There are also a few “NTR mini-stories” involving random NPCs taking place all over the map, that will progress without player interactions. If you’re careful and enjoy exploring, you might witness different stages of those stories, or only a few of them, or miss them entirely. This will help reinforce the feeling that the world is alive in the background, without the MC.

5. How does the card game play?

You will have a whole tutorial in-game, so I won’t explain everything here. However, I have to warn you of one thing: the card game has been added using a plugin. Plugins are community-made, free or paid, and allow to expand on the original RPGMaker game by adding new functionalities.

The plugin I am using for the card game was made by someone no longer working on it, and it contains a few issues I had to work around. The main one being that there are no limitations on the strength of the cards you can use during a duel, which means players could just go around and beat a few stronger players, receive strong cards, and simply use them all in the same duel to steamroll all their opponents.

As a counter-measure against this, I had to streamline the duels, meaning that players will have to defeat a predetermined opponent before moving on to another stronger predetermined one, and this for the whole game. With every win, they will receive a predetermined card. This allows me to keep track of the overall deck strength of players, and make sure that their next opponent has a matching deck that can provide at least a little bit of a challenge.

6. What role do the choices fulfill in this game?

As has already been mentioned in the “gameplay” section, choices do not lead to branching stories. They will be sprinkled all throughout the main story with three different options, each leading to a certain ending: NTR, Revenge, or Happy Ending. The purpose is this to make each of those endings feel more organic.

The game will keep track of what choices the player has made each time, and will trigger the appropriate ending at the end of the game. For example, if a player went for a majority of “Revenge” choices during the game, then they will get the Revenge Ending. Same for NTR and Happy Endings.

Lastly, players will have the option to have the choices either remain entirely white, or be colored, blue for NTR, red for Revenge and green for Happy. That way, they can always go for the choices related to the ending they wish to see.

(A save will be provided at the beginning of each ending, so that players won’t have to replay the entire game to see all of them).

7. What if I don’t like NTR?

The game relies on three main themes: NTR, maledom, and corruption. With an open-mind, and if you like at least 2 out of 3, then you could be able to enjoy the game either way.

HC3 (as well as HC1 and HC2) are designed in such a way that it allows players to distance themselves from the NTR if they wish to, mainly by not identifying with the MC being NTR’d. How?

Well, there are a number of small tricks, such as not giving the MC a voice, but make him speak through speech bubbles, which dehumanizes him and makes it easier for people not to associate with him. Other tricks include not being able to name the MC, so players see him less as someone they impersonate but more of a story character they control. The NTR being unavoidable is part of said tricks too, so no one feels like they chose it out of their own volition, it just happened instead.

Etc…

“Yes, but what if I really don’t like NTR?”

Well, in that case, the NTR can be made entirely avoidable by not playing the game. ;)

8. What’s the writing/English like?

My style of writing seems to be relatively divisive. Some really like it, some find it horrible. I can’t say much more than that.

As for the English, I’m not a native speaker, but I can handle myself well enough that it isn’t bothersome for the readers (players). I was quite happy when I heard people with English as their mother tongue had played through ~20 hours of HC2 without realizing English wasn’t my first language.

Now, expect a few typos here and there and some grammatical oddities too (let me know if you find them). Also, some characters might use English words or forms of speech that aren’t consistent with their apparent socio-economical background. Sorry about that.

9. What’s your definition of the NTR used in the game?

We’ve all heard the good ol’ “It’s not xxx, so it can’t be considered NTR”.

At this point, there are almost as many definitions for NTR that there are stars in the sky, and even Japanese players argue about what it really means, so I’ll write down what I consider to be NTR to avoid any further confusion (and possibly low reviews because “iT’s NoT nTr”, but they will still happen either way).

For me, NTR can happen with anyone the MC shares a strong bond with, not only lovers, partners, wives, etc… It could be a really good friend, a close family member, or anything that fits the description. When this bond is severed, or replaced by an even stronger bond caused mainly by manipulation and sexual corruption of the woman by the antagonist, that’s NTR. Here, that’s the general definition I use for the NTR in my games.

10. What are your overall goals with this game?

Yes, yes, achieving financial stability is nice and all, but if the tradeoff for getting good money was hate or indifference, I simply wouldn’t do it.

My main objective is to create a game that would stick with people after they’ve finished it, if only for a few minutes. One that wouldn’t be forgotten right after they’ve closed the game. For that, I try my best to craft an engaging story, attaching characters with unique personalities, a rich world, but also satisfying sex content.

11. Update schedule?

I’m aiming for around 1 update per month. With HC1 and 2, I would release it every month on the exact same day without fail. For HC3, due to the higher workload it requires, I would allow myself 3-4 days delay if necessary.

12. What are this game’s shortcomings?

I personally don’t consider them shortcomings, or I would have fixed them already, but there are 2 aspects that might not be everyone’s cup of tea:

1) The game relies solely on small pixel sprites for the sex scenes’ visuals (check screenshots for an example). This allows for more diversity and a greater number of scenes, but it certainly isn’t as appealing visually as bigger pixel art or full-blown illustrations. However, since the game relies mostly on immersion and ambience, visuals aren’t as important as the combination of art + sound effect + situation.

2) It takes time to get going. I put emphasis on slow and partially realistic corruption (it’s a porn game, it’s never going to be 100% realistic). As a result, it takes a lot of time to set everything up just right with the LI’s in order for the corruption/NTR to happen. Not only that, but I put great importance with feeling connected to the characters, which is why the game starts with the MC’s childhood, meeting the characters, seeing them evolve and grow up, their relationships change, etc…

This doesn’t mean there is no sex content. There will be plenty of it from the start, with several scenes and even more freeroam events throughout the map, only not with the 2 main and 2 side characters. But don’t worry, once it gets going, it goes hard. HC2 had over 100+ scenes by the time I finished it.

13. Why should I support you?

Good question! Well, they might not look like it, but those games cost a lot of money with hundreds of original sprites and assets, illustrations, voice acting for moans, etc… I’d estimate the money invested in HC3 (at the time of the demo) to be around 10k$+.

However, I still want to go further with this game and any future games. More funds mean more custom pixel art assets, animations, more illustrations (more lewd outfit variations for the character menu, which has full body illustrations), more portraits, etc…

For games after HC3, the main (dream) objective would be to upgrade the visuals from 50 pixels tall sprites to 70- 80 pixels tall sprites, which means a lot more details, but a lot more costs to (environment assets would need to be redone entirely to match the change).

Also, with more than 3 completed games under my belt, I’m more than likely to finish any game I start.
